We’ve moved around a lot and have always rented. We have decades of good landlord reviews. Never had a legal problem in our lives. We had a kitchen sink pipe leak through normal use (18-year-old house) and our cheap charlie property management company tried to take advantage of us and force us to pay the $2,500 bills (plumber, drain doctor, restoration company). They threatened and bullied us so much. Then their attorney sent us a letter. So, we searched around and ChatGPT guided us to Nicholas Ohmann at Peek Goldstone. Tenant law. We explained everything to Nicholas and he advised us what to do, and that path was not expensive. Key point for people who have never hired a lawyer: search around and try to find one that has reasonable costs and isn’t going to try to take advantage of you—it is not as expensive as you may think. Nicholas sent a letter to their lawyer (the property manager has to pay for every bit of work they do) and then they stopped all communications. We had defeated them. Then Nicholas sent them a letter (taking the power position) and asked them to send our security deposit to their office, so they wouldn’t try to keep our deposit for this nonsense. So, they didn’t try any funny business and basically gave us the full deposit back. Another win. Sometimes bad things happen to good people. We had a tenant law problem. We connected with Nicholas Ohmann. We were very successful with him, and maybe we spent $350. Completely worth it. Best possible response and outcomes. Nicholas is The Man with tenant law.
